The Taliban Book of Poetry Published

A book on the poetry of the Taliban is has been released to the public on Amazon. Some have hailed it has a magnificent collection of raw emotion compiled into 235 poems. They encompass man topics like “love poems, verses exulting in the Afghan landscape and patriotic ballads, [they] provide a unique insight into the human side of the Taliban.” Its publishing has caused a great stir in the UK as commanders have denounced it.

The ignorance here is absolutely astounding. Kemp is clearly giving a knee jerk reaction to the existence of the opinion of “the Enemy”. His words of denunciation echo those of the protesters who wish him and those like him to stop pushing their wars on the Third World. Men like him who crave bloodshed because it gives their lives meaning.

“Fascist, murdering thugs” are what the imperialists are. It is them who force mass violence upon the exploited of the world, all for the profit of the capitalist elite. They mindlessly consume the terror inflicted upon the poor for their own self-gratification and nationalist identity. It is military men who almost daily rape their own female soldiers, never mind the countless Iraqi women who have been raped by them.

This should be what we scream every time they declare another war on another poor exploited mass. I for one will be purchasing this book and reading it aloud in a video.

Sun Media and QMI Debunks Themselves

Here’s something really funny that should give any decent person a good laugh. For the longest time the right wing has always claimed that it is in fact the left wing who is racist and promotes racism. Usually called “reverse racism”, which is in fact whining about losing White privilege. This, along with a great deal lies, fallacies and some times outright stupidity.

One of those great promoters of that view is QMI and Sun Media (same company). They have propounded for time immemorial that the “Left” in Canada was the true source of racism and fascism. Of course never actually acknowledging their ACTUAL support for fascist policies.

Regardless, QMI has put forth in the Sun a short description of what far right politics is. This was in their “In 5 Minutes” section of the May 8, 2012 edition of the Toronto Sun. The section was describing the goings on of far right politics in Europe and where they stand in polls and number of seats held by various parties.

Here’s what they use to describe what far right politics is. And remember this is coming from a right wing newspaper and media outlet.

- Involves strong support of social hierarchy.
- Supports supremacy of certain individuals or groups deemed to be superior to others.
- Claims that superior people should have greater rights than inferior people.
- Usually involves anti-immigration and anti-integration stances towards groups that are deemed inferior and undesirable.

I would say that is a very accurate definition of far right politics. In fact these are literally the stances of the Nazi Party in Germany, and every other Nazi party as well. What’s interesting is that these are the same positions held by QMI. Not out in the open like Nazis, but you can see it if you look.

Interesting that they describe far right politics the same way you would describe them.

Joe “Exaggeration” Warmington

As a journalist I often come across stories, while important, there’s just not enough to write about. Being of such limited resources (because I’m only one man) I have to choose a larger more expansive story. Rarely I am ever afforded the opportunity to do anything local. Media like the Toronto Sun has prime opportunity and obligation to report local news. Especially crime and anything to do with Muslims. Because nothing scares Conservatives more than brown people who have a different religion. (When they’re Christian they’re not so scary.)

The Toronto Sun has ample opportunity to do so. However sometimes, like all media, the crime story doesn’t have enough “umph” to it. A simple “B and E” isn’t exciting or “controversial” enough for them. After all, they bill themselves as a real “voice of dissent”. One could agree if they consider yellow-Islamophobic-corporate puppet-propaganda journalism dissent. I don’t.

So I was not surprised when I saw an article by Joe Warmington on crime that had been exaggerated. Doesn’t call himself “the night scrawler” anymore. I guess it might have given off a negative image. The phrase reminds me of an adolescent spray painting walls at night. Usually such activity is reserved for Anarchists. (I kid Anarchists, I kid.)

Mr. Worthington decided that it was necessary to exaggerate the situation over a break in that occurred in my old stomping grounds Peel Region. In Brampton, (or as Sun readers know it, Bramladesh), the home of Russ Littler was broken into at night. Neither he nor his father Gord heard the intruders who broken into the home stealing $39,000 worth of goods, including a Jeep Cherokee. Thankfully no one was hurt.

In the morning he called the police once he had discovered what happened during the night. Once informed of the incident the police came and spoke to them and took a report. Well apparently this wasn’t enough for Littler. He thinks that the police should have done more because he thought to himself, “had they been confronted this could be a different story — an assault, home invasion or a murder.” Warmington was quick to back him up on this pulling the “I pay taxes” card.

Well.. What exactly does want? He called the police several hours after the incident was over. If it had been “assault, home invasion or a murder” the police wouldn’t have known anything was going on. They’re not psychic, Littler didn’t even know it was happening and he was right there. Are these people just stupid?

“One Peel police officer showed up took some notes and gave me an incident report,” he said. “We pointed out to the officer clippers used to cut the window screen and jimmy the window, as they were sitting outside the backyard window. He said don’t touch anything (and that) he would send over the Ident team to fingerprint.”

I can’t figure out what the officer was supposed to do in his mind. The incident is over. The police can only collect evidence at this point, there’s no one to chase down because its over, and they need to determine who the person is. Why is Warmington egging this guy on? Are they complaining the cops didn’t know ahead of time that there was going to be a break in.

Some bit can be criticized of the police action later on after the report was taken. (Read the original article to see it.) I just don’t get why they’re mad over something the police were not aware of at the time it occurred. Warmington is pulling out all these typical “I pay taxes”, “you work for me” right wing garbage. The police didn’t do anything wrong by not knowing ahead of time about a break-in.

Usually the Toronto Sun licks police ass whenever they can, kissing up to the bodyguards of the ruling class in some of the most transparent ways. Only criticizing the police when its impossible to deny what is happening. Clearly Warmington is just trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill in this story. I suppose if you have no victims to attack that day I guess you could just invent something out of nothing, this is the Toronto Sun after all.

Or maybe Peel Region Police did something to Warmington to anger him…?

Mammoliti Capitalism Dazzles Single Moms

Capitalism is predicated on quite a few logical fallacies and deluded dreams of one day being rich beyond your wildest dreams. It’s capitalism after all, a system that promises anyone can make it rich and famous if they but simply apply their natural talents and ability. That’s freedom after all, the lofty notion that anyone and everyone can succeed!

Hold on, there’s some Filipino peasant child wearing rags scoffing at me… Okay, she’s gone, sent her to work making running shoes. Her dreams of being rich will become true soon.

Anyway, where was I? Oh yea, the greatness of capitalism. The brass ring that hangs above a glass ceiling to delude the working class into fantasies of riches and its possibilities. One man dead set on pushing that dream upon us all is Toronto City Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti. While appearing on the Newstalk 1010 Mayor Rob Ford radio show, he offered just that.

The dazzling shine of promise came from the soon-to-be new in Toronto. Aside from the shear absurdity of such a plan, (economically it promised 10,000 new jobs) he said they would benefit the single moms of Toronto. “Imagine how many single mothers we can actually train, perhaps if they want, to become dealers”, he said talking to Toronto Mayor Rob Ford and his brother Doug.

Single mothers are of the most difficult groups to find stable work with livable wages for. Perhaps Mammolitit should step inside a casino and see how many women actually are dealers. Hint: not many. Women mostly serve drinks. Not mix drinks, bartenders are still overwhelmingly men. But there is a place for them nonetheless. Don’t even ask about women of colour.

It’s almost laughable picturing all the single moms lining up for employment. Especially since he’ll block any attempt at company daycare, not to mention the unstable rapidly changing number of hours and shifts. Then there’s the whole ridiculous idea of the casino to begin with.

Here’s a quick lesson in economics: Capitalism requires constant consumption in order to function. People have so little disposable income they’re not consuming enough commodities to grow the economy. If they can’t afford to consume commodities, how can they have enough to waste at a casino? Despite the capitalist religious belief, supply doesn’t automatically create demand.

Casinos are a perfect symbol of capitalism: one big risk that promises everyone a payout even though it’s a literal impossibility. In the end the same person or persons on top walk away with everything.

Mammoliti is capitalism, deluding the taxpayers of Toronto and single mothers looking for jobs. Away with this wretched system and its false promises.

Lilley Reactionary Planned Parenthood Stance

Those Sun Media people are certainly a strange lot aren’t they? QMI the parent company of Sun Media is absolutely determined to bring American-style political debate to Canada, and ruin the one we have. Possibly they just need a shtick to get their failing cable news channel SunTV (or FOX News North as I like to call it) off the ground. A poor choice and a very dangerous one. The Toronto Sun, a paper that lost any integrity it might have had a very long time ago, features a columnist Brian Lilley, whose one of the gang also has a blog on canoe.ca. I just saw it for the first time after a person re-tweeted one of my favourite people I’m following on twitter.

He’s found a an article from The Star-Telegram in the US announcing a new health centre in Fort Worth, a Planned Parenthood complex, was going to be built near an orphanage. He implied in his blog post that women would now see both options and then automatically choose to have an abortion. He speaks in his own words:

This particular location even gives birth mothers a place to live prior to delivering their babies and helps them select the adoptive parents. Now those women will be looking across the street at the abortion clinic.

So women who are already choosing to give birth will now be choosing abortion, which is a legal legitimate choice. It must be just me and my perception of Texas, but it looks like Texas women are flip-floppers, or maybe its just their politicians. But seriously, non sequitur much? But I guess that’s right wing “logic”, the same people who demand the sanctity of life also demand imperialist war against Third World nations that defy their interests in favour of their own. Total hypocrisy.

Also interesting from the original The Star-Telegram is this line:

“Tarrant County is one of the fastest-growing counties in Texas,” he said. “We needed a new, state-of-the-art health center in Fort Worth.”

Well clearly their not having a population problem if they’re growing that much. But then again, being right wing and in Texas, if you ask they’ll probably just blame Mexicans. Or maybe that is the point? Planned Parenthood serves an overwhelmingly working class clientele. So a right wing attack on something the working class needs should not be unexpected or confusing. What’s it to him right? He never has to worry about having an abortion, he’s not a woman.

It seems regardless of the the topic Brian Lilley feels the need to be American as possible. I’ve not been alive all that long compared to the likes of Brian Lilley, Peter Mansbridge or Greg Elmer, I’m a mere 30 years old. Regardless, I am quite aware that the option of abortion in Canada is widely welcome and is acknowledged as a right as a part of proper health care. (Which explains why the right wing really hates it so much.) Thankfully the Brian Lilley’s are in a small minority and the religious institutions (for the most part) know their place and shut the hell up.

Or maybe Brian Lilley just went into hyper reactionary mode when he saw the words “The Star” in The Star-Telegram.

The Irony of Ron Paul Cultists

I just read an article on Russia Today describing the so called “young ideas” of Ron Paul and all the youthful enthusiasm young people show him wherever he speaks. They’re primarily talking about the talk he’s giving at the University of Maryland. Apparently he’s got the youth there all wound up. Its got to be a joke hearing the comments these kids are giving over Ron Paul and his speeches.

“Although he is up there in age you could say, he has youthful ideas,” said Corey Herdegen, a University of MD Sophomore.

This exact same statement could be heard all over America during the 2008 Presidential election which Barack Obama won. The same hopeful reality-detached belief that if we just vote something different, all our problems will be fixed. I would think that after all this time people would get it through their heads the West is not a group of democracies. How long does one have to live with attention being paid to the political landscape and still delude themselves like this?

Its face palming watching Paul Cultists scream and rant that Obama supporters are blind and mindlessly follow a corporatist while worshipping capitalism. In their ignorance they scream Obama is a socialist revealing their stupidity. They rant and wail that people treat Obama like a saviour in a cult of personality while never acknowledging they are the real cult.

A lunatic fringe who mindlessly scream “RON PAUL, RON PAUL, RON PAUL” at rallies and speeches like a bunch of programmed drones. They walk around like arrogant little shits acting like their such independent thinkers, or have undefeated debating skills. Only to leave “RON PAUL 2012″ on every video the come across saying nothing of any substance (like Kony 2012). If you call them on it, they just run off to the von Mises blog to find out what their opinion is going to be. Its pathetic watching them try to pass themselves off as adults who think for themselves.

Listen to them complain that the entire democratic process is controlled by corporations and is a complete fraud. Which it very much is. Then listen to them complain their candidate didn’t win in an election they already know is fixed. Its like watching a kid try to ride a bike they know is broken and doesn’t work because they really want to be riding it.

Sure, Obama supporters used to be hope-filled dullards who stupidly thought that if you just vote something different everything will change. But watching Ron Paul Cultists do the same thing and then rail about Obama supporters doing it makes me wish China would just bomb America off the world map.

Obama supporters are deluded hopeful drones, but ones that want a better life for everyone. Paul Cultists are deluded childishly selfish drones, that want to justify their teenage angst in adulthood because life didn’t hand them everything like their over privileged mommies and daddies did.

Conservatives Love China

Every day the right wing media in Canada, particularly in Toronto are just lining up to give China whatever it wants. Its pretty hard to ignore the fact that China will be the largest customer of new Alberta oil. The Chinese have been investing a lot of more to get contracts away from the US to their own hands. This isn’t surprising or unexpected in anyway, their just acting upon their own “immediate rational material interest”. Not any different than what the Americans were doing with their oil situation. So really these two attempts to get a hold of our Canadian oil have been carried out in pretty much the same way. Although China has not been as vocal in the Canadian media as the Americans have. (This too should also not be a surprise. The image of China is only invoked to scare people, not make points.)

Here’s the real irony that gets me laughing. That’s what they claim I do, defend and support China and whatever its particular interests are at the time. Even though it should be obvious that I am a Maoist, and support Maoist COMMUNISM. I follow Mao Tse-tung Thought, the guiding philosophy of Maoism (hence the name). I do not however follow the Harper robot voice that keeps going to people’s homes helping them vote a certain way. I believe in a particular philosophy, not a voter aid.

It makes me wonder exactly how much foreign money is actually going into the Alberta oil sands lobbyists pockets. I’m sure they have their roundabout way of obscuring the source of these funds. I’m pretty sure they’ll get exposed by another whistle blower that will get persecuted by the Haper regime. But until that time we’ll only be able to guess how much their souls cost. I imagine its not very much, after all conservatives are not known for having much heart. I would assume that by market forces it would be quite high, you know, the supply is low. But then again there is only one demand for it right now.

Its hilarious to think I oppose the current regime in China while conservatives in this country are taking money from them to carry out their interests.

North Korea Announces Rocket Launch

Despite protests and threats of war from the world’s imperialist powers, the government of North Korea has announced that they will be launching a rocket into space to place a satellite in orbit next month. The move which has been taken as an act of aggression by the West, comes only just weeks after it agreed to make concession regarding its nuclear program in exchange for food aid. Food which is being denied to the country through a decades long embargo by the US and its puppet allies. The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea maintains that the launch is intended to send an experimental satellite into orbit for peaceful purposes. All of which is legal and does not violate any disarmament agreements.

The Korean Central News Agency has publicly broadcasted their intentions:

“The DPRK will strictly abide by relevant international regulations and usage concerning the launch of scientific and technological satellites for peaceful purposes and ensure maximum transparency, thereby contributing to promoting international trust and cooperation in the field of space scientific researches and satellite launches.”

Despite the statement of peaceful intentions from the government and space agency, the US and South Korea have claimed that the launching of this satellite is a cover for testing military missile technology in violation of a U.N. ban. Daniel Pinkston a so-called expert on North Korea’s weapons programs at the International Crisis Group, said the launch was intended to “underline” the regime’s claimed commitment to provoke new tensions to help their government. He also suggested that the move could risk the food aid that has been promised to the country.

Japan Chief Cabinet Secretary Osamu Fujimura went before the media on Friday and announced that they are setting up a crisis management task force under the command of the Prime Minister’s office to monitor the situation in co-operation with the US and South Korea. He also accused the North of deliberately sabotaging dialogue and urged them to cancel the satellite launch.

North Korea maintains that the new launch is to place a fully functional polar-orbiting earth observation satellite between April 12th and 16th. The previous two satellites that were launched were only experimental ones. The new Kwangmyongsong-3 will be launched from a Unha-3 rocket to orbit the Earth. A flight path has been chosen to avoid debris falling into other countries. They also reiterated that it was for peaceful scientific purposes and as a demonstration of their domestic development of technology without outside assistance.

The DPRK has every right to launch such devices to develop their own technology. Space does not belong to any nation, it is a frontier to be explored by everyone, knowledge is not private property. These attacks by the West and the South against North Korea’s launch is a continuation of the suppression they carry out against the country. They are trying to prevent the technological as well as economic development of the sovereign nation, so that they may be subject to suppression by hostile nations. North Korea has every right to self determination and that includes the peaceful development of space technology.

Kandahar 16 Massacre Was Planned

The Afghan Army Chief of Staff is reporting that the 16 civilians massacred by a US soldier was preplanned by a squad that deliberately targeted the village of Balandi. Lt. General Sher Mohammad Karim’s statement is boldly in contradiction to the official statement put out by the NATO forces after the incident. As you’ll recall 16 civilians were massacred by US forces several days ago, including 9 children in the Panjwii district. At that time NATO and the US insisted that it was a the work of a single “lone wolf gunman”. Despite their statement several witness claimed they saw and entire group of soldiers. One of those victims, a 15 year old boy who was shot in the leg, spoke to Afghan President Hamid Karzai personally.

Lt. Gen. Karimi says he visited the scene of the crime and spoke to relatives of the victims before reporting back to Karzai on Friday. He personally inspected the location where the incident took place and insisted that he speak to the man implicated in the shooting. Despite his requests, NATO would not allow him to speak to Staff Sgt. Robert Bales, who is being held for the incident. In addition, Karimi criticized the American investigation team for refusing to co-operate with him on the investigation. The results of his report is that it must have been 15 to 20 troops that carried out the massacre.

Witnesses of the incident said that the counterinsurgency operation had received air support and that they had also been brought in by military helicopter. The Afghan parliamentary investigation team concluded that the killing was a very deliberate action and not something that could have been carried out by a single man, or even done spur of the moment. It is clear to them that NATO is trying to cover up the incident.

News of Bales removal from Afghanistan to Qatar and then to the US has angered the Afghan government and population where many want him to stand trial in country. John Henry Browne, the lawyer for Bales insists that the case against his client is not a criminal one. He cited multiple combat tours, suffering head trauma, other wounds and fatigue as possible reasons for his actions. He also said that his client may have also been intoxicated at the time.

Despite adamant claims by NATO forces to be attempting to help the population of Afghanistan, more and more massacres like this one are occurring, and many more have yet to be uncovered. Imperialism always has excuses for the inhuman things they do to the people they are occupying and controlling. Combat fatigue is a common excuse given for murders carried out by the imperialist soldiers. This is no excuse, this war has nothing to do with the betterment of the lives of the Afghan people. This is all about control over a country with huge potential for mining. Its incidents like these that show the true face of the US empire aided by its running dogs in NATO. The only solution is a full withdraw of all foreign forces from the country.

China McDonald’s Accused of Expired Food

In the Chinese capital city of Beijing, a local McDonald’s is accused of selling food beyond its expiration date. China Central Television is reporting that a French retailer Carrefour is also selling expired food as well. The report claims that expired chicken products were served to customers. Also claimed was that chicken wings must be served 30 minutes after they have been cooked and that they were served 90 minutes after, 3 times longer than what company’s rules permit.

If that is not bad enough, the Chinese state television had also discovered employees at the Carrefour restaurant in the city of Zhengzhou altered the expiration dates by changing the time placed on food packages so that they may be used later than is recommended as safe.

CCTV reporters interviewed a spokesmen for the restaurant who apologized for the incident.

“McDonald’s China attaches great importance to this. We will immediately investigate this isolated incident, resolutely deal with it earnestly and take concrete actions to apologize to consumers.”

In the past McDonald’s has been frequently criticized for the way they do business. Accusations of errors in food preparation is nothing new to the food giant. This is one more example of the changes that has been brought to China as a result of capitalist economic reforms. These incidents are inevitable as a system based on profit drives towards cutting costs and increasing that profit at any consequence.
